Ingredients for the watermelon feta salad

The traditional recipe calls for adding salty olives, cucumber and red onion. However, to my mind these 3 ingredients that we used are enough to experience the taste of summer in this watermelon and feta salad.

No seasoning needed! There is salt in feta, and you can add some pepper, if you like. I used melissa leaves, but you can use fresh mint or basil too.

By the way, you can drizzle the watermelon feta salad with a little bit of honey, mint syrup and lime peel on top. However our watermelon was not overly sweet and very juicy. To my mind, the juice of watermelon and lime is enough to dress this summer salad!

  • First, watermelon should be symmetrical and free from any damages and scrapes.
  • Secondly, it should have a yellow spot – the place where it sat on the ground and ripened in the sun.
  • Thirdly, did you notice the brown webbing around the watermelon? The more webbing, the sweeter watermelon.
  • Next, choose the watermelon with dried tail – this one will be ripe.
  • Finally, tap the watermelon – the ripe one will have hollow sound.

Ingredients
  • 2 big slices watermelon
  • 1 thick slice feta cheese
  • 8 melissa leaves
  • 1/4 lime
Instructions
  1. Slice watermelon in thin triangles, put them on the plate.

  2. Slice feta cheese to small cubes and drizzle on top of the watermelon.

  3. Drizzle with lime juice.

  4. Decorate with melissa leaves
